Fashion and cinema relationships prove to be very harmonious duo in many cases. Significant looks become the oracle for the trends and enhance fashion consciousness. Many times the movie style dictates the trends itself for many seasons of even years. A perfect example can be taken from Carrie Bradshaw character. Her versatile style of vintage and high fashion pieces with Manolo Blahnik’s shoes became its own trademark. Following such tendencies there is upcoming movie that seems to have quite influential impact into society not only because of its capsule collection with H&M but also the radical transformation of the actress Rooney Mara for the main character.
In addition, we are speaking about widely commented movie of David Fincher called “Girl with the dragon Tattoo”. This is the latest adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s book “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, assumed to be one of the most awaiting films of the year. The main character – Lisbeth Salander has significant if not outrageous style for the biggest part of the society– rockabilly hairstyle, numerous piercing, and bleached eyebrows that makes her appearance even more harsh. She is the embodiment of so-called anti-heroine. However, the dress code closely related to goth – punk influence can be interesting as well.
In the movie, Lisbeth played by Rooney Mara is dress up in dark colors of tomboy – like yet stylish pieces of leather trousers, torn jeans, biker jackets, casual T-shirts and slouchy hoodies. Great thanks for such edgy and smart styling go to the costume designer Trish Summerville who stands behind the designs for the movie. Her own styling preferences do not go far from what she created for the film. That is also, why you have the feeling of authenticity.
What is more, H&M decided to create a capsule collection for “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” together withTrishSummervillefor very important reason. The Swedish origins of the writerStiegLarsson, pushed the creative director of H&M –DonaldSchneiderto make further steps. And this is how the 30-piece collection for H&M was initialized. The women line is kept in the essence ofLisbethSalandercharacter – dark urban concept of industrial shades including black, grey, worn white and dark red.
The clothes have quite worn out look with numerous zippers, stitching details and holes giving slight punk outlook. The outwear clothes resemble armor construction implemented on leather racing jackets or hooded wool coats. Trish Summerville explains her goals about the H&M collection: “Salander’s look is very real and very lived in, with pieces that her character has worn for a long time, like her jackets that act as her armour to shield her from the world. I wanted the collection to have the essence and strength of Salander, with a fashion edge, and I’m pleased with the result! My goal is for women to find pieces in it that they love and then mix them with their own wardrobe to create their own personal style”.
Furthermore, the models featured in the H&M campaign are Swedish origins. They all are styled in theLisbethSalander’s significant style – with dark gloomy make –up, pale skin and bleached eyebrows and quite rockabilly hairstyle. The effect is stunning.
The collection started to be available since December 14 in H&M stores.
