Madonna in Givenchy Haute Couture at Super Bowl Halftime Show

Madonna, 53-year old award winning performer, queen of pop, music icon and stage persona gave an awesome almost 13 minute performance during the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show that took place at Lucas Oil Stadium on February 5th, 2012. Being on the throne of the pop queen, Madonna didn’t let down with the new generation of fans with her spectacular show regarding her dancing abilities, stage personality and costume designs chosen for the show. She performed her greatest hits including: “Vogue”, ”Music”, “Like A Prayer” and her latest single “Give me all your Luvin”. However, worth mentioning is the fact that her outfits steal the whole show. The performance wardrobe consisted of a breathtaking set of three bespoke designs of Givenchy Haute Couture stamped by Riccardi Tisci.
The three outstanding costumes were regarded as a mixture of excessive style taken from Egyptian Queens, ancient heritage and warrior-like Roman gladiator tone.

With the opening song “Vogue” she arrived characterized as an opulent Cleopatra on the excessive throne carried by muscular men. The dancers were dressed up in tracksuits fromJeremyScottfor Addidas. The opening outfit ofMadonnapresented long gold dripping cape, mythical golden crown giving majestic feeling together with black mini dress and leopard print embellished cape.

The second outfit consisted of outwear was made of silk charmeuse in which the gold metal pieces, crystals, studs and sequined were embroidered manually. Accessorized with belt of black python leather with detachable flaps and embroidered nappa leather glovesMadonnalooked like a genuine ancient queen of gladiators.

The final design finishing the whole performance was a high-collared black coat giving a feeling of cruel majesty to Madonna. The specific feature of the coat was praise for matriculate craftsmanship in embroidery visible in black rectangular sequins and micro pearls. Worth mentioning also other candies that accessorized the stage costumes ofMadonnaenumerating thigh-high boots fromMiuMiu, a hat fromPhilipThreacy, jewels from Bulgari.

For the release of the new single “Give Me All Your Luvin” Madonna was accompanied two other singers – Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. making an extraordinary fashion statement as ancient cheerleaders with golden pompons. For that part Nicki and M.I.A. wore custom-made ensembles byFaustoPuglisiwith the jewellery fromDavidWebb.

The most noticeable from the whole performance wereMadonna’s bespoke costumes designed byRiccardoTiscifromGivenchyfashion house that put a perfect fashion concept both for her show as well her stage personality.

Riccardo Tisci has very rich past regarding fruitful work relationship with Madonna and as he explains: “Following my collaboration with Madonna on her last tour three years ago, it is a great honor of me to be a part of yet another historical and iconic moment. People say everything has a limit, but limits do not exist with Madonna. I am so happy that, after being busy in other scenes, she decided to go back on a music stage.
